Holiday basket FAQ
How much should I spend on my senior's Holiday gift?
We suggest spending $50-$100 per basket.
How should I package by senior's Holiday gift?
We just ask that all of the gifts for your senior are grouped together in a basket, bag, or box. It will be transported to the facility so they need to be sturdy. You're welcome to wrap the gifts individually within the larger basket, bag or box.
Where do I drop off my Holiday basket and when?
Basket drop off will be at Belton Assembly of God. The address is 613 E North Avenue Belton, MO 64012. We will email exact times to our sponsors but there will be a few hour window on Saturday December 13th, the 14th, and 15th. PLEASE do not sign up if you cannot follow through. With a tight time frame like this, it's very challenging to fill the gap if people forget to make their senior basket. :(
How do I continue to stay in contact with my senior throughout the year?
If your senior wants to stay in contact, we will send you their preferred contact method. This may not be for everyone but if we can make some seniors feel less lonely and more connected to their community year round, that's our goal!
Can I just drop off my gift directly to the facility?
Unfortunately, no. You're welcome to contact them after Christmas to make arrangements to follow up with or meet your senior but the holidays are hectic times for these facilities so we make arrangements for all baskets to be delivered at once so they can plan for it and sometimes even have their holiday party then!
Other tips:
We suggest including a picture of yourself with your family or something just to help put a face to the name for your senior. You may also consider including a mailing address - many of them ask for one for their sponsor so that they can send a thank you card.
Birthday FAQ
How many sweet treats do I need to provide?
Ideally enough for the senior to share with all of their friends so around 30-40 treats would cover that.
What are considered sweet treats?
Cake, cupcakes, brownies, cookies, or anything else you might think someone would enjoy to celebrate their birthday. If you are unsure, please send an email and we can confirm for you.
What kind of gifts should I provide?
Any gift would be appreciated it doesn't have to be expensive to make a senior's year. Some suggestions are books, word puzzles, holiday decoration, and household goods or decorations, or gift cards so they can buy themselves something. It is up to you how you want to bless a senior on their birthday!
What if I sign up for a later date in the year and worry I'll forget?
We're here to be your friendly reminder! If something comes up and you won't be able to cover the birthday celebration please reach out ASAP. We understand life happens, the faster we know the faster we can get it covered.
